Pharm to Body is a Black-owned, women-owned, family-run mushroom farm in Portland, Oregon, founded in 2022 with the mission: heal body, mind, spirit and environment, while restoring ancestral connections to fungi.

Our Story

Pharm to Body was born from curiosity, a connection to the earth, and a deeply rooted passion for wellness. Co-founders Jasmine Barber and Dennise Mofidi grew up alongside land stewards and gardeners, learning firsthand how to tend the land and understanding the importance of growing your own food.

It was no surprise that Jasmine became plant-based at age 10, or that Dennise found herself drawn to nature-based ventures, from raising snakes to creating botanical products. The true spark for Pharm to Body emerged when Dennise was searching for a new path and Jasmine began researching the growing popularity of mushroom coffee. That curiosity grew into a mycelial connection, eventually forming the fruiting body behind Pharm to Body and the Spore Sistaz.

What began as a dream of running a mushroom farm quickly evolved into something much deeper: a vision for building community. As the Spore Sistaz uncovered the healing properties of gourmet and medicinal mushrooms, they also unearthed rich cultural histories, environmental possibilities, and ancestral connections across the African diaspora.

Pharm to Body is more than a mushroom farm. It is a movement rooted in education, food sovereignty, and community healing through fungi. Through workshops, conferences, and community-centered programming in Portland and across the country, Pharm to Body is reconnecting people to mushrooms as a source of nourishment, wellness, culture, and environmental restoration.

Our Mission

At Pharm to Body we grow with the intention to improve health quality of communities of color by healing mind, body, spirit, and environment through education and connecting back to ancestral uses of gourmet and medicinal mushroom technology.

Pharm to Body is rooted in three commitments: food sovereignty, education, and community healing. Every share, kit, and workshop is a step toward making mycology accessible.
